Stay Meek

Exodus 14:14:

The LORD shall fight for you, and you shall hold your peace.

John 19:1-4:

So then Pilate took Jesus and scourged Him. And the soldiers twisted a crown of thorns and put it on His head, and they put on Him a purple robe. Then they said,“Hail, King of the Jews!” And they struck Him with their hands. Pilate then went out again, and said to them, “Behold, I am bringing Him out to you, that you may know that I find no fault in Him.”

Meekness may look like weakness, but the Bible tells us otherwise. God has laid the inheritance of the earth upon the meek (Matthew 5:5). Many times you may find that you are weak and vulnerable to men for God’s sake, but don’t let the devil deceive you, meekness is your No. 1 rule for reigning.

It took God and God alone to prove that David was a King; that Jesus was the Messiah or that Job was a righteous man. Our goal in life is not to prove anything to anyone. The devil’s trick is always to ask us to prove this or that. He asked Jesus to prove he was the Son of God by turning stone to bread, but Jesus knew better and responded instead by the Word. Again, on the occasion of the crucifixion, Jesus was mocked and scourged by the people, by Pilate and by the soldiers. But in spite of their words and the pain they inflicted on our beloved saviour, Jesus focused on the mission rather than the insults or even the pain he was suffering. He continued in God’s purpose, bearing the pain and shame, for he knew that God was going to glorify Him before all men, if he continued in God’s will.

It doesn’t matter how close the person is who is trying to hurt you. It doesn’t matter how many gang up against you and say all manner of hurtful things to you. The devil won’t use words or set up challenges in areas he knows you don’t care about. He will always try to trouble the areas he knows you are particularly sensitive about. But if you will look unto Jesus and know that the life that you now live is the life of Christ, if you will stay focused on the image of Christ from which you have been forged, then very soon, Jesus Himself will answer for you. Remain meek, remain small in your own eyes, take the insults, bear the pain- by handing it all over to God. God will never fail his own, He knows just how to answer your adversaries for you.
